In late autumn, the reporter drove along the curved road to Sang Village, Suoliu Township, Bama County, Guangxi, and was greeted by a large patch of snow-white camellia flowers, clusters of blooming flowers jumping out of the branches, competing for beauty. The breeze blows, and the camellia flowers sway with the breeze, wafting a burst of fragrance. Plump and fruitful tea fruits are hanging all over the branches, which is the hope of the people and the “cash cow” for getting rich.

Tea oil belongs to one of the special products of Bama, and Solio Township is a large village of Bama oil tea cultivation, and Suoliao Township Bureau Sang Village is a large village of oil tea cultivation in the township. The village has a total of 16 natural tuns and 22 villager groups, with a forest area of 43,154.25 mu, of which the Camellia oleifera forest accounts for 16,000 mu, and every household has the Camellia oleifera industry. This industry has become the main industrial pillar for the people of the village to get rid of poverty and become rich.
In the past, due to the weak awareness of the people and the lack of oil tea management technology, most of the people allowed the oil tea plant to fend for itself, did not carry out careful care, and did not harvest much every year. In previous years, the price of oil tea was low, many people were unwilling to develop oil tea cultivation, a large number of barren mountains were idle, the people lived a tight life, and the incidence of poverty was high. In 2016, the incidence of poverty in Kusang Village was 17.7%.
Since the beginning of the battle against poverty, Bureausang Village has vigorously developed the planting of oil tea industry, carried out oil tea planting technology training, introduced technical personnel to go deep into the field to guide the people to carry out oil tea planting management and care, carried out low-yield transformation of the old oil tea forest, opened oil tea processing points in the village, increased the publicity of oil tea sales channels, expanded the popularity of oil tea, and transported oil tea from the village to the outside world, so that the people can get more income. At the same time, in recent years, with the rising popularity of Bama Longevity Township, more and more people come to Bama for tourism and health care, Bama specialties are also selling well at home and abroad, and the price of oil tea has soared, and 1 kg of camellia oil has been sold for more than 100 yuan. The poverty incidence rate in Guisang Village dropped from 17.7% in 2016 to 0.89% in 2019, and the per capita income reached 7,000 yuan, achieving poverty alleviation in the entire village.

In recent years, the price of tea oil has been rising, he adapted measures to local conditions, in line with the opportunity of rising tea oil prices, in 2018 expanded the planting area of oil to 30 acres, busy in the oil tea field all year round, weeding, insecticide, cutting branches, through his careful management, the expanded oil tea forest grows well, and it is expected to increase the income of 50,000 yuan of oil tea by 2022, and the income is extremely considerable.
“In the future, we will continue to guide the masses to expand the planting area of Camellia oleifera, increase technical training, increase the publicity and sales channels of Camellia oleifera, establish farmers’ Camellia oleifera planting cooperatives, make the Camellia oleifera industry the main industry for the masses to get rid of poverty and become rich, and let the oil tea of Bureausang go out of the outside world and go further.” Liang Lude, director of the bureau mulberry village, said.
