Many people who have been to Japan in winter will have the same question – Japanese elementary school students only wear shorts and short skirts in winter, aren’t they cold? Look at your own children, wrapped in three layers inside and three layers outside, it is inevitable that there will be doubts, Japanese children wear so little in winter will not catch a cold?

After asking some teachers and children in Japanese schools, I got an interesting answer:

Sometimes it’s cold, but it’s not cold when you exercise.

Some elementary school uniforms are shorts in winter, and sportswear is short-sleeved shorts, which has also become part of Japanese culture.

In fact, Japanese children are also afraid of cold, and Japanese mothers will also worry about their children’s warmth, but more often

Fine-tune with the understanding of the child’s own physical constitution, trust and cooperate with the collective arrangement and care of the school and teachers.

For example, as far as nursery children are concerned, in winter, except for a few children with better physique who wear short sleeves, all other children wear long-sleeved long pants. A pair of trousers for the lower body, no need to wear autumn pants, a single long sleeve on the upper body, or short sleeves + long sleeves layered. Layering is done to make it easier to adjust body temperature, and if it is too hot during activity, you can easily remove your short sleeves at any time.

Japan Nursery School is held every day

1-2 times

Outdoor group activity time. After the child can walk, due to the significant increase in activity, in order to prevent sweating and cold during exercise, the teacher will ask the mothers to prepare a thinner jacket. Usually commuting to and from school, morning and evening weather is cool, children need to dress heavily. When you go out during the day, just put a jacket on top of your indoor clothing.

Every time there is an outdoor activity, the teacher will also encourage the child to run more and exercise more, and will plan some small games to let the child run and let the body heat up by itself.

In addition to the fact that when the children first entered the kindergarten, they would get sick several times due to discomfort, but after slowly adapting, according to the arrangement of the teachers, even if the winter clothing was thinner, they did not get sick, and the parents gradually felt at ease.

There is an old saying in China called

“Three points of cold and seven points of fullness”

, it is said to pay attention to increase or decrease clothing, eat hunger and moderate fullness. Japanese schools put this old saying into practice very well, nursery teachers will communicate with parents at any time about the thinness of children’s clothing, children’s body temperature during walks, in the garden, give a lot of dress reference, usually will also recommend that children during the day, wear a pair of pants on the lower body as well. If you exercise outdoors when the temperature is low and you are worried about the cold, you can wear slightly thicker pants, and wearing two pairs of pants will be very inconvenient for small children. For the upper body, it will be recommended to layer 2-3 pieces of clothes, so that the number and thickness of clothes can be adjusted at any time according to the child’s exercise, and prevent the child from sweating a lot after exercise. Sweating can cause a lot of water loss, and if sweating is not properly treated, it is more likely to catch a cold, especially in winter.

Secondly, wearing less clothing in winter also has the effect of improving immunity. The human skin responds defensively to both cold and heat. If you wear it too warm for a long time, the nerves of the skin that sense changes in the external temperature will become dull, and the activity of the autonomic nerve will decrease, resulting in the decline of the child’s immunity, which is the reason why the “three points of cold” are paid attention to the healthy human body.

Finally, it is also advocated here

Give children more green and yellow vegetables and root vegetables in winter,

Let food give the body enough energy.

Vegetables are divided into cold vegetables and warm vegetables, while

Seasonal vegetables in winter are mostly roots – vegetables that grow buried in the ground, which not only store the essence of nutrients needed by the body in winter, but also have the characteristics of warming the body, and generally have mucosal protection and immunity-enhancing ingredients.

Representative ones are radish, potatoes, onions, potatoes, sweet potatoes, burdock, etc. It is recommended to eat more of these vegetables, or cook root vegetables with other vegetables. When cooking, it can also be accompanied by seasonings such as ginger, green onion, and chili, which also has the effect of raising body temperature.

The recommended dish in winter is a warm pot, as long as you choose the bottom of the pot that everyone likes as a family, as long as you put fish, meat, and various vegetables, it is not only easy to balance nutrition, but also delicious and convenient. Eating warm pot together as a family is believed to be a matter of warmth together physically and mentally.

Did the above Japanese mother’s winter baby tips help you? Finally, one more reminder:

The body temperature of “little children” changes greatly, and must be adjusted at any time according to the child’s constitution and their own conditions.

➀ Children who cannot walk exercise less and must dress warmly.

➁ For children who can walk, adjust the thickness of clothing according to the amount of exercise, so that they do not sweat or sweat slightly during activities. If you do not exercise outdoors or when the wind is strong, increase the thickness of the coat, and you can also increase the size of the scarf, hat, gloves and other small objects that are convenient for adjusting body temperature.

➂ There are many types of root vegetables in winter, and they can be eaten often according to children’s preferences.
