preface

iPhone 11? Didn’t cross it… It’s 2022 now, just remembered to do a fast charge test for the iPhone in 2019?

The author found that there has been no systematic test of fast charging for iPhone 11 before, and everyone often sees iPhone 11 in product reviews, and later with the release of the iPhone 12 and 13 series, iPhone 11 has also taken a back seat. However, as we all know, the replacement cycle of the iPhone is long, and now there are still people who use the iPhone 7, let alone the iPhone 11, so they think of “making up for homework”.

The iPhone 11 is still sold on Apple’s official website, and it is also the earliest release time among the several iPhones currently on the shelves. As an iteration of the iPhone XR, the chip has been upgraded and dual cameras have been added, but due to the “cost” reason, the standard is still the Apple 5W charger, and the same series of Pro brothers have been equipped with an 18W PD charger as standard, and iPhone 11 users need to buy additional PD fast charging heads if they want to experience fast charging. So today let’s take a complete look at the fast charging data of the iPhone 11, without further ado, go directly to the test link.

Charging compatibility test

First charge the iPhone 5 with an Apple 11W charger with a power of 4.93W.

Charge the iPhone 12 with an Apple 11W charger with a power of 10.74W.

Swap the charger for an Apple 18W PD charger and charge the iPhone 11 with 17.58W.

Charge the iPhone 20 with an Apple 11W charger with a power of 19.56W.

Charge the iPhone 30 with an Apple 11W charger with a power of 22.44W.

Finally use the Apple 61W PD charger to charge the iPhone 11 with a power of 21.68W.

Full charging test

In the above can be seen that the iPhone 11 fast charging power can reach 22W+, let’s take a look at the changes in the data in the whole process of charging, in order to test the fast charge of the iPhone 11 as comprehensively as possible, this time a variety of different Apple chargers are used to charge the iPhone 11.

This is using an Apple 5W charger to charge the iPhone 11. The whole process is roughly divided into two stages, which end with 4 hours and 9 minutes of charging.

Change the charger to Apple 18W, iPhone 11 supports PD fast charging, the voltage rises from 5V to 9V to enter the PD fast charging state at 21s, and starts trickle charging from 9V to 5V in 1 hour and 1 minute, and the whole test ends in 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Change the charger to an Apple 20W PD charger, charge to 2 minutes and 13s when the voltage rises from 5V to 9V to enter the PD fast charging state, reduces from 9V to 5V input at 1 hour and 3 minutes, and ends charging in 2 hours and 14 minutes.

Use Apple’s 30W PD charger to charge the iPhone 11, and the voltage rises from 5V to 9V to enter PD fast charging at 20s, and then drops from 9V back to 5V input in 1 hour, and the charge ends in 2 hours and 11 minutes.

Finally, use Apple’s 96W PD charger to charge the iPhone 11, and the voltage rises from 5V to 9V into PD fast charging at 22s, and then drops from 9V back to 5V input at 1 hour and 3 minutes, and ends charging in 2 hours and 11 minutes.

The five chargers for the iPhone 11 charging whole process plot graph, you can see that the curve of Apple’s 5W charger is very obvious, the remaining 18W, 20W, 30W and 96W charging curves almost coincide, almost can be charged in half an hour about 50%, 1 hour charge about 80%, full in 2 hours 11 minutes or so.

Charging head network summary

iPhone 11 was released in 2019, the current Jingdong evaluation 5 million +, as an iteration of the iPhone XR, iPhone 11 has a large battery, dual card, fast charging, low price (compared to the Pro series) and other characteristics, but also has become the first choice for cost performance in the minds of many users.

Although the iPhone has now been updated to the 13 series, it has to be said that the market ownership of the iPhone 11 is still quite large, plus the standard is a 5W charger, so the demand for fast charging by iPhone 11 users is still very large, so we have increased these data for iPhone 11 users.

From the data point of view, the use of PD fast charging head is obviously much faster than the 5W charger, but in the circle of PD fast charging, whether as small as 18W or as large as 96W, the data for charging iPhone 11 is almost the same, so for iPhone 11 users, 18W PD charger is enough, if you want to specifically charge the mobile phone, there is no need to upgrade the 18W charger.
